DONATION FOR MOSQUE IN BASORI, GAMBIA
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
“Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrow’s nest or even smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” Sahih Al-Bukhari
A masjid is at the heart of any local Muslim community. It provides a place for its worshippers to pray and contemplate as well as being a hub for educational programmes and other everyday services. The role of the masjid is to help people learn more about Islam and to nurture their moral and spiritual development.
This is a Muslim community located in the rural western region in Gambia called Basori. Gambia is a country with over 95% Muslims. There are over 5,000 worshippers who pray at a make shift Mosque in Basori and the imam and teachers lead classes of nearly 2,000 children in a mud hut madrassa. The current space is very small and during congregational prayers most people pray outside on dirt ground.
The community is quite improvised and the primary source of income is dependent on agriculture. An average family makes less than $2 a day!
Why Should You Care?
As privileged Muslims, we know how wonderful it is to be able to go to the masjid regularly, and with your help you can give your brothers and sisters in rural Basori, Gambia the same experience.
In order to achieve this goal, our future Masjid will have the following facilities:
- Mosque with Prayer Rooms for Women and Women: a place for daily and congregational prayers
- Madrassa Classrooms: offering Quran and Islamic lessons
- Library: youth can cultivate knowledge about Islam through reading material and digital resources
How Can You Help:
Help us with even £1 if you can or share our campaign with your friends, family and network. You will earn continuous deeds (sadaqa jariya) as duas and prayers made at this masjid will be attributed to all. Our community will be truly grateful. You can even donate multiple times if you would like!
